Hi, I'm Amanda

my career as a hairstylist started 11 years ago when i was in college studying business & communications. I was offered an incredible opportunity to join an apprenticeship program and work under some of the most talented hairstylists i've ever met.

A few years of hard work and dedication to both my apprenticeship program and my college classes paid off and I had my cosmetology license shortly before graduation. After graduation I moved home to Northern Va, and worked at a local salon for 7 years before stepping out on my own as a small business owner. Now, I love not only being behind the chair but also the business aspect of being a hairstylist. I'm a bit of an administration and accounting nerd.

I have always loved and felt drawn to the beauty industry. There is power in feeling beautiful and I love being able to provide that to women. I love learning new techniques and staying up to date on the latest trends whether its bright blonde, dimensional brunette, a short textured bob or waist length hair extensions. Stop by my services page to learn more about what I offer. You can also check my schedule directly from my website to book an appointment. I am looking forward to meeting you and working towards your hair goals!

The name Salt & Light Hair Co was inspired by this passage in the Bible when Jesus was telling the disciples to be the Salt of the Earth and Light of the World. As I was thinking of a business name, this kept popping into my head and I couldn't shake it. What Jesus meant when he was telling the disciples to be salt & light is to remember their indentity in Christ as Christians and to be a light to a dark world through their good deeds. My mission as a hairstylist and business owner is to be a light to people by making them feel loved and beautiful.

Matthew 5:13-15 "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
